You can download various ‘flavours’ of Linux from
I would try a ‘live’ distribution to start with as these run from the CD without affecting your current Hard disk.
Once you have a better idea of what you want then go to. This is one of the best repositories of torrents of Linux distributions.
I have heard reports that Ubuntu is a good distribution to start with, although I have not had experience of it. I run SUSE variants.
